When a student presents an Accommodation Letter from the Center for Disability Resources (CDR), faculty are asked to facilitate the approved accommodations. Below are common accommodations CDR facilitates, grouped by type. For guidance on any specific accommodation, contact CDR.

Classroom Accommodations

  • Volunteer note-taker
  • Access to PowerPoint or overhead slides before class begins
  • Ability to use a laptop in class for note-taking purposes only
  • Priority seating when possible (e.g., allowing the student to sit near the front)
  • Ability to give individual presentations to a small group

Testing Accommodations

  • Extended time (1.5x) for all timed tests and quizzes
  • Extended time (2.0x) on all timed exams and quizzes
  • Use of Microsoft Word (without internet access) for in-person essay and short-answer exams and quizzes
  • Use of adaptive technology on exams and quizzes
  • Scribe for hand-written or hand-typed in-person exams and quizzes
  • Exams and quizzes in electronic format
  • Excused breaks during testing
  • Exemption from use of scantron sheets
  • Human reader for exams and quizzes
  • Distraction-reduced testing environment (including a private room)
  • Use of a basic 4-function calculator during exams
  • Use of a formula card during exams and quizzes

Attendance Accommodations

  • Flexibility in attendance
  • Homework submitted within 24 hours (1 business day)
  • Ability to retest within 48 hours (2 business days)
  • Ability to give a presentation within 48 hours (2 business days)

Homework Accommodations

  • Synopsis of and due dates for long-term assignments and projects
  • Reading materials in accessible format
