Delaware State University's Employee Fitness Program is intended to generate more participation in daily health and fitness activities. It encourages employee involvement in the Department of Wellness and Recreation programming and helps prepare employees for a lifetime of fitness, wellness, and health.

A weekly schedule of activities (such as an Indoor Walking Group, Circuit Training, Indoor Cycling, and Yoga) runs midday. Questions: contact Sarah at szsmith [at] desu.edu.

Goals of the Employee Fitness Program

  • Promote involvement in WRC programs and community fitness opportunities.
  • Recognize commitment to total-person development.
  • Enhance individual preparation for a lifetime of fitness, wellness, health and recreation.

Program Rules

  • Open to ALL individuals currently employed at DSU with a valid employee ID.
  • Employees may access the Wellness & Recreation Center between 11:00am–1:00pm to participate in the employee fitness program. Access at any other time requires the purchase of an employee membership.
  • Employees must sign in at the front desk.

  • Who can participate? All DSU employees with a valid employee ID.
  • How much does it cost? The program is FREE and allows admission to the Wellness and Recreation Center during the designated hours.
  • What is it? A selection of FREE activities encouraging employees to use the Wellness and Recreation Center.
  • When can I use the WRC? During the set employee fitness days/hours; a schedule is posted online and at the WRC. Use outside the allotted hours requires a membership.
  • Where is the WRC? On the north side of campus adjacent to the Martin Luther King Student Center; it connects to Memorial Hall gymnasium.
  • How many laps is a mile? 8 laps = 1 mile.
  • Where do I sign in? At the front desk of the Wellness & Recreation Center.
